Ross A. Hauser, M.D.

Here is some more of my background in case you are interested. While in high school I was a pretty decent golfer. I asked a friend one day if I should be a professional golfer or a doctor and his reply was this: “We have enough good golfers in this world. What we need are some good doctors.” So here I am! I am confident and happy that I made the right decision.

Education: I received my M.D. from the University of Illinois, Chicago; completed my residency at Loyola-Hines VA-Marianjoy Hospitals in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; and received my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Medical Director of Caring Medical: I am the Medical Director and co-founder of the physician-run, comprehensive natural medicine clinic, Caring Medical & Rehabilitation Services in Oak Park, Illinois. We have seen so many different people with so many different conditions, we feel confident that we will have something to offer you.

I am most well-known for my expertise in the technique of Prolotherapy, a medical procedure that stimulates the body to repair painful, injured areas. I was blessed to have trained under Dr. Gustav Hemwall, the grandfather of Prolotherapy. Because of my expertise and the popularity of our books on Prolotherapy, Caring Medical has a national referral base seeing patients from all over the USA, as well as abroad.

What a great clinic and profession! I meet people from all over the world, including Australia, England, Canada, Scotland, Ireland, Costa Rica, and Mexico. People with nearly every human disease have walked through our doors here. I use an individualized approach to wellness and treatment of disease, providing my patients with the extra touch by upholding the motto "The Care of the Patient begins with Caring." Ultimately, I try to get at the root cause of the patients’ problems, thereby treating the cause, not just the symptom.

We went to great lengths to set up an in-house laboratory that conveniently offers our patients the laboratory tests that they need.

Nutritional Consultant: I am a supporter and consultant for Beulah Land Nutritionals, a comprehensive nutriceuticals store. Some of the products carried at Beulah Land Nutritionals were actually formulated by my wife and I to help achieve optimal health for our patient population.

Athlete: I am a sports-enthusiast having completed IronMan Coeur D’Alene in Idaho in June 2004, Ironman Canada in August 2005, Ironman Florida in November 2006, and Ironman Arizona in April 2007. I have always loved sports but decided to get serious about it when I started reaching middle age! Having two marathons under my belt, I ran five more! After a sports injury caused me to vary my training, I became an avid swimmer and cyclist. It was that which allowed me to accomplish my dream of completing an Ironman Race. I love working with athletes from all sports – especially because I have a treatment in my armamentarium that will get them back to their sports in no time! I love treating athletes and helping them reach their peak physical performance through diet, supplements, and monitoring blood pH and various blood tests to make sure that they have optimum physiology. Of course, I love giving them Prolotherapy when they have injuries as well! Why? Because it gets them back to training in a day or two and does not involve long recovery periods. Plus, it works! Read more about the Caring Medical Sports Medicine Center!

Author: My wife Marion and I are the authors of the national best seller "Prolo Your Pain Away! Curing Chronic Pain with Prolotherapy", along with a four-book topical mini series of Prolotherapy books. Together we have also written the anthology of Prolotherapy in a 900+ page epic sports book that discusses the use of Prolotherapy for sports injuries, as well as other topics including nutrition, surgery, x-rays, cortisone shots, MRI’s and other aspects of sports medicine. It is one of the most comprehensive books on Sports Medicine available. Every athlete and/or trainer should have a copy. Over 2000 references are listed. The title of the book is "Prolo Your Sports Injuries Away! Curing Sports Injuries and Enhancing Athletic Performance with Prolotherapy."

We also co-wrote “Treating Cancer with Insulin Potentiation Therapy,” published by Beulah Land Press in 2002. This book covers a multitude of topics related to cancer, including cancer cell physiology, treatment of cancer with IPT, diet for cancer, laboratory testing, and many other fascinating topics.

One of our more recent books is entitled “Prolotherapy: An Alternative to Knee Surgery.” Anyone experiencing knee pain or who has been given the advice of surgery should read this one over.

See www.amazon.com or www.benuts.com for book purchasing and information.

Lecturer/Speaker: Because of my love for the subject matter, I have become a well-known speaker and lecturer on a variety of topics related to natural medicine. I am one of the authorities on Prolotherapy, and often speak on this topic to the lay public and medical community as well. Of course, with my wife’s book being out on the Hauser Diet, I have been privileged to speak about that as well. This book focuses on the importance of an individualized diet program for preventing and reversing disease, along with obtaining optimal health and fitness. Combine that with Prolotherapy, and you’ve got a great combination.

Instructor: I am a preceptor for Bastyr University’s naturopathic medicine students and also for Midwestern University’s Physician Assistant Program. Many students have rotated and observed our clinic at work to gain knowledge in the practice of natural medicine. I have also trained many MD’s, chiropractors, veterinarians, and the like, on the technique and benefits of Hackett-Hemwall Prolotherapy.

Dr. Robert Reppy

Dr. Reppy is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians with additional studies in Chelation Therapy and First Line Therapy. With more than 20 year medical experience, he is heading LifeWorks' prestigious Chelation Therapy unit as well as working in Family Practice.

Chelation Therapy

Chelation Therapy ( pronounced ke-lation ) has been used continuously since it was introduced in the 1940s, specifically to treat lead poisoning.

Chelation is an intravenous therapy with an amino acid called EDTA (Ethylene-diamine-tetra-acetic acid) which is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). At LifeWorks Wellness Center , patients have a full medical evaluation and screening blood tests before receiving Chelation therapy.

The process involves getting the EDTA by intravenous infusion along with vitamin C, B complex, magnesium and specific homeopathic remedies to improve health. This substance binds toxic metals and removes them from the body so that they can not continue their disease causing effects.

EDTA is the most powerful antioxidant known. It decreases blood clotting and removes from the body lead, mercury, and other toxic metals. In the process of doing this, circulation is improved and oxygen levels in the tissues increase. This can lead to improvements in blood pressure, circulation, wound healing, and exercise tolerance.

Normally Dr Reppy will recommend treatments 2-3 times per week and will then re-evaluate to see if more are needed. Each treatment takes between 30-40 minutes to deliver.

First Line Therapy

Dr Reppy is a certified First Line Therapy provider. First Line Therapy is a clinically proven, doctor-supervised plan to treat the symptoms of Metabolic Syndrome, which include obesity, high blood sugar, high blood pressure and abnormal lipids. The term “First Line Therapy” originates from the guidelines of the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association who recommend it is tried as the initial treatment for these conditions.

The plan utilizes a customized diet which is tailored specifically for each individual patient and includes a medical food manufactured by Metagenics, a leader in the nutriceutical field. Frequent monitoring ensures that the weight loss that occurs comes from the appropriate body composition and not from vital tissues. Patients are able to see blood pressures, cholesterol and blood sugar drop without the need of any prescription medications.

Heavy Metal Toxicity

Current research studies are finding that many of today's diseases and health problems are linked to an over-burden of toxins in the body from exposure to heavy metals. Such things as heart disease, stroke, chronic fatigue, high blood pressure and cancer have been linked to heavy metals.

We live in a polluted environment where mercury is probably one of the best-known and one of the worst environmental poisons. It can come from many places such as leaking amalgam/silver fillings, routine vaccinations, or fish consumption.

Lead too, is prevalent in the environment with many common products containing un-safe levels, from children's toys and industrial emissions to lipsticks.

Of course, all of this just adds to the underlying problem - toxic contamination. So, if you are feeling less than 100%, this is likely a major factor and you should discuss it with Dr Reppy who is knowledgeable in environmental toxins.

Neil A. Ahner M.D.

Approaching milestones presents opportunities for reflection. Such is the case with Dr. Ahner.

As he reviews his tenure in the healthcare industry, he is enthusiastically looking forward to the new millennium with knowledge that his dedicated research combined with the work of his respected colleagues, will continue to bring exciting advances that enable patients to enjoy good health and enhanced quality of life.

In 1982, Dr. Ahner opened his Jupiter, Florida-based medical practice. At this time, his focus encompassed standard American medicine with the addition of nutrition, natural hormone replacement and chelation therapy. This period marked the early years of alternative/complementary medicine, and the term "holistic" was the emerging topic of the day.

During this time, free radicals and their effect upon cells was initially and eloquently described by Dennon Harmon, M.D. The use of nutritional supplements was becoming popular, and the application of specific elements, such as CO enzyme Q10, which are now taken for granted, were just emerging. Laboratory evaluation for free radicals and cellular damage was virtually nonexistent, and many treatments at that time were based on empirical knowledge.

The old adage, "the more things change, the more they stay the same," reflects how Dr. Ahner views his clinical practice. He learned early in his medical studies to recognize and value the unique individuality of each person. As we learn more about cellular biology, environmental influences and free radicals, we understand the concept of biochemical individuality must be preserved.

In 1982 vascular disease was the number one killer of adults. Unfortunately, with the approach of the year 2000, vascular disease is still the predominate killer of adults. With advanced medical treatments, including bypass surgery and balloon angioplasty, it is curious that the rate of this disease has increased, and is becoming more prevalent in younger patients.

Knowledge about free radicals and cellular damage has progressed to the point it is now known that vascular disease is a free radical induced inflammatory disorder. Dr. Ahner began using chelation therapy for vascular disease in 1982, and has continued this practice with his ever-growing patient base. Initially, there were approximately 12 doctors in Florida that incorporated chelation therapy into their practices. Today, that number stands at more than 120.
